On 5th April 2025, nearly 180 attendees gathered in Baghdad for the Women in Tech and Business Summit — a powerful day dedicated to celebrating, elevating, and supporting women across Iraq’s tech and business landscape. Organised by She Codes Too, this summit brought together leaders, innovators, and aspiring professionals to share insights, foster connections, and build momentum for a more inclusive future in tech.

A Celebration of Vision and Purpose

This summit marks a continuation of She Codes Too’s 5-year mission: to create spaces where women can thrive in tech, build their careers, and shape Iraq’s digital economy. With the generous support of our main sponsor QiCard, and our partners The Station المحطة, Neon Media, Stride, and Women Techmakers, we were able to deliver an experience that sparked real inspiration and community spirit.

Voices That Empower

We were honoured to welcome a lineup of incredible speakers who shared their personal stories and professional journeys:

Khanim Latif – Executive Director & Women’s Rights Activist

Maysam Al Hayali, MBA – Chief HR and Administration Officer

Vian AlKaabey – Chief Executive Officer

Noor Ahmed Ameen – Business Consultant and Tech Enthusiast

Their powerful insights on leadership, resilience, and impact in Iraq’s private sector resonated with attendees and left a lasting impression.

From Baghdad to Space: A Story of Boundless Ambition

A highlight of the day was the inspiring keynote by Farah Al Fulfulee, an Iraqi woman who studied in Iraq and now works on NASA projects as an ISS System Design & Analysis Engineer at Boeing. Her journey was a powerful reminder that the sky is not the limit — and that Iraqi women can break barriers in any field they choose.

Women in Tech Panel

Our Women in Tech panel featured brilliant engineers and leaders from Google:

Xiaoxiao (Christina) K. – Software Engineering Manager II

Adina R. – Product Lead, Nest Thermostat

Rachel S. – Senior iOS Software Engineer, Google Nest

Yousra Kamoona – Software Engineer & Panel Moderator

Together, they tackled topics like imposter syndrome, leadership challenges, landing careers in tech, and the importance of diversity and inclusion.

The Journey Continues

At She Codes Too, this event reaffirms our belief: with the right support, women in Iraq can thrive in tech, lead change, and redefine what’s possible.
