Celebrating the 2024 Graduates of Front-End Web Development and Business Program
📅 2024-09-07
She Codes Too (SCT) proudly hosted the graduation ceremony for its 7-month Front-End Web Development and Business Program, celebrating the accomplishments of a new cohort of women entering the tech sector. The event was held with the generous support of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and in collaboration with Baghdad Business School.
The comprehensive program, which ran from February to August 2024, offered a rigorous training experience combining both technical and business skills. Over the first four months, participants received intensive, in-person instruction in modern web development technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React. This was followed by one month of dedicated business training, covering essential topics such as finance, marketing, and project planning.
In addition to the core curriculum, participants took part in structured career development sessions aimed at enhancing their employability and confidence in the job market. These sessions included workshops on CV writing, interview preparation, and personal branding.
As part of SCT’s personalised support model, each participant was matched with a mentor from the local or international tech community. These mentorships played a crucial role in guiding participants through their learning journey, offering both technical advice and career guidance.
The final stage of the program involved a capstone project where each participant applied their skills to build a fully functional web application. These projects addressed real-world problems and demonstrated not only technical proficiency but also an understanding of user experience and business strategy. Capstone presentations took place one week before graduation and were attended by industry professionals and SCT partners.
The graduation ceremony featured remarks from SCT founder and director Raghad Al-Abboodi, U.S. Ambassador Alina Romanowski, and industry leader Sarah Aldoori. The speakers praised the graduates for their resilience, growth, and commitment to building meaningful careers in technology.
One of the graduates, Malak, shared her personal journey—highlighting the transformation she experienced through the program and the confidence she gained from SCT’s inclusive and practical learning environment.
She Codes Too extends its sincere appreciation to all those who contributed to the program’s success, including its team of trainers, mentors, volunteers, guest speakers, and advisors. The graduation event marked not only the end of a training cycle, but also the beginning of new opportunities for the 22 talented women who completed the program.
These graduates now join a growing network of She Codes Too alumni equipped with the skills, mindset, and community support to thrive in Iraq’s tech sector and beyond.
