She Codes Too Success Stories: Meet Ruqaya
Hello, I am Ruqaya Anwar, an electromechanical engineer in the navigation and guidance branch. I graduated from the University of Technology. After graduation, I entered programming to learn more about it. During my research journey, I realized that I wanted to delve deeper into this field. I started with YouTube to learn the basics of programming and explored various educational platforms like edX to take courses.
My experience with She Codes Too was always beyond amazing. It helped me choose a programming path and learn the necessary steps for a front-end development path. I have been able to build many projects. We also learned how to use the most important JavaScript library React, learn about its concepts, and create a website with it. I also got to know many innovators in this field. As for the program team, starting with the trainers, participants, and guest speakers, I benefited from their experiences. It was a clean, positive and encouraging environment. If you encounter a problem while learning, you will find many people who will help you solve problems to develop yourself as a programmer.
All our memories at She Codes Too are unforgettable, starting from arriving at the class, gatherings, discussing interesting topics while enjoying coffee and tea. Then the lecture begins and with it comes the challenge: we solve the tasks given to us and practice solving what we have learned over the past week. I’ll never forget our meetings to discuss the Portfolio Presentation Day. We would present our projects to each other and on that day, we brainstormed ideas for our graduation projects! Also, we got to know each other better and formed wonderful friendships. We are now very close friends and meet each other from time to time.
After graduating from She Codes Too, I'm working as a freelancer. I was able to build a website for an engineering construction office, and I am currently the developer of their website. I am also now working on other projects to develop. I am seeking to establish my own business that provides programming solutions and websites creations.
I am now learning new libraries in JavaScript to create new things. I also strive to become a full-stack developer in the upcoming months. This would increase my productivity at work and open new horizons for me.
The best advice I can give to girls who are students at She Codes Too is to learn with love, to think positively, to face the challenges they face by finding appropriate solutions, and to solve assignments, research, and learn about every aspect of the subject. You must remember that the more challenges there are, the more beautiful and precise the work becomes. In the end, the results will be wonderful and satisfactory, and I wish everyone all the best and prosperity.
