line

Farah Ziyad, a Computer Engineering graduate from Baghdad, transitioned from working in networks and internet services to pursuing her passion for data analysis. Through She Codes Too's 6-month Data Analytics programme, she gained advanced technical skills, confidence, and the support of a strong community. Today, she is reshaping her future as a data analyst and encourages other women to take bold steps into technology, no matter their background.

My Background

My name is Farah Ziyad, from Baghdad, and I am a Computer Engineering graduate. Since graduating, I enrolled in several training courses across different fields to grow my skills and increase my opportunities in the job market. For some time, I worked in networks and internet services.

Why I Chose Data Analysis

I have always been passionate about technology and problem-solving, and I was drawn to data analysis because it combines critical thinking with creativity. Although I was afraid to shift my career path, I knew I needed a field that inspired and motivated me. Joining She Codes Too was the right step to begin this new journey.

My Journey with She Codes Too

At first, I was hesitant—this was a career change, and I was worried about managing the commitment alongside my current work. But from the very first day, I realised that She Codes Too was not just a course, but a supportive and motivating community.

Over five months, I gained skills that would have been hard to learn on my own in such a short time. The guidance from supervisors, trainers, and mentorship sessions gave me confidence and enthusiasm to continue. One of my happiest moments was seeing my progress from one project to the next. The journey was not easy, but it was incredibly rewarding.

A New Path Forward

Today, I have been able to leave my previous work in networks and start my career as a data analyst. The programme didn’t just give me advanced technical skills, but also boosted my confidence in applying for jobs, doing interviews, and building a professional network.

On a personal level, it changed the way I see myself. I now believe that I have the ability to redesign my future and create a meaningful shift in my career.

The Bigger Picture

I believe programmes like She Codes Too truly transform women’s lives by opening doors to technology with confidence and real support. They don’t only teach technical skills but also build a strong, supportive network of women for each other—and that makes a huge difference.

My advice: don’t hesitate if you feel curious about entering a new field, even if your background is different or the step feels too big. The experience is worth it, and curiosity and determination are enough to begin the journey.

Final Thoughts

For me, this programme was not just an educational experience—it was a real turning point. It taught me that with the right community and genuine support, your life can change in powerful ways.
